This frame was constructed of 3/4" red oak. To accommodate the weight of the lexan lens, a series of copper spanners were designed in the rear. The entire assembly weighs 38 pounds. Donated by LV and Berthacombat.

Analog and tracking digital thermometer/hygrometer. Mr. Moisture lid-mounted humidifier. Extruded brass hardware. Low-luster penetrating oil and microcrystalline wax finish. Dr. S. will load this with Camaroon-wrapped medium-to-full bodies stoges, we suspect. Enjoy sequential construction pics below!

Metal reed squirrel call with mopani body and stopper. Finished in clear shellac and wax only.
1" thick hand-planed purpleheart stock. Hand-cut dovetails on carcass and plinth. Hand-rabbeted floating case bottom. Hand-rubbed wetsanded Danish Oil x 5, followed by polyurethane x 4, followed by soft rub-out with Museum Wax.
Brass gauges. Solid brass mortised quadrant hinges. Solid brass full mortise lock with custom-milled catch. Plinth floats on brass pins. Mr. Moisture humidification system with inside-versus-outside weather computer. 1/4" Seasoned Spanish Cedar Lining.
Piston-fit figured mahogany false lid to prevent humidity-induced cup in the tapered lid. Future versions will likely employ a raised panel or breadboard.
Loaded with cheap stogies! Current system pegs 72% with 0.5% max fluctuation (despite major shifts in external temperature and barometric pressure).
No powertools here. Hand jointed and hand planed without scrapers or sandpaper. Block is 15.5 x 20 x 7/8 of curly maple. Custom woodburned monogram.

Matchplaning endgrain can be a challenge, especially with soft cedar. Even the dowels are rived and plate pressed.
